Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a comprehensive grappling system that prepares one for the worst situations. Most fights start standing and progress to the ground. On the ground, positions consist of top and bottom, where the degree of control, offence or defense are employed simultaneously by either practitioner.
Key positions are wide and varied and instill practical habits in real situations which enables practitioners with a disadvantaged position, size or strength disparity, control a larger or stronger opponent.
A progressive Jiu Jitsu Curriculum;
- Positions: Mount, Side Mount, Back Mount, Guard, Half Guard and Standing. The aim is to constantly improve position, secure control over an opponent and apply a submission finish.
- Sweeps and Passes: Sweeping the top exponent and Passing the bottom practitioners Guard (Legs) is the key to establishing superior position and control.
- Escapes: from dominant position or submissions enable continuity and survival on the ground.
- Submissions: disable an adversary and are typically a Choke, Armlock or Leg Lock.
At the end of this class you will have the option to cultivate your technique and skills in a controlled environment utilizing drills, live situations and sparring. Simultaneously improving your fitness and flexibility while having fun. Anyone who is not safe will not be permitted to participate and sparring is 100% voluntary.
