Wrestling is one of the oldest martial arts known to man and compliments both grappling and MMA styles because it enables the effective transition from standing to the ground. Classical forms include Freestyle and Greco Roman. However, submissions add another dimension to takedowns which require adjustments for grappling and MMA. The specific aim of this class is Takedowns.
A progressive Wrestling Curriculum;
- Stance, Footwork, Motion and Positioning is required to effectively execute techniques, which differs to that of the striking arts.
- Pummeling, Clinching & Ties result when practitioners are locked in position and are applying Controls, Counters and Escapes. This position is necessary to secure Takedowns, Trips and Throws.
- Takedowns are used to get an opponent to the ground. Most common are Leg Attacks. Other methods include Trips, Tips, and Throws.
At the end of this class you will have the option to cultivate your technique and skills in a controlled environment utilizing drills, live situations and sparring. Simultaneously improving your fitness and flexibility while having fun. Anyone who is not safe will not be permitted to participate and sparring is 100% voluntary.
